Indulge Me

Where is the one place in the world you would love to visit, if money, time, civil unrest or spiders as big as dinner plates weren't an issue?

Where is one place you have visited (or lived) that was so unappealing you would have to be paid a significant sum to revisit?

Which country or region of the country (tell us your country, if not the U.S.) have you found the most friendly, warm and welcoming people?

If you had to spend the rest of your life in only one location anywhere in the world, where would it be? Your family, friends, employers, favorite hair stylist, etc. could move along with you, if that makes it easier.

Your responses are greatly anticipated and appreciated.  :)

I would love to visit India. And Russia. And Africa. And and and....

I didn't love London. But I would give it another chance.

And the last 2? Paris. Hands down, Paris. J'adore.

1. Africa - which is kind of a shot in the foot given the whole unrest thing... but I REALLY want to hear African people sing their music in their own country, I think it would be AMAZING - oh and shooting elephants wouldn't hurt either... with my CAMERA of course...

2. London... I know, right? Hate it. Lots of personal reasons... but the next visit will be to see friends who are NOT in London, I will be merely passing through.

3. If we're talking about our home countries here... then anywhere in NZ - in Australia? Not Sydney... except for moi, of course...

4. Oh, here... Sydney, for sure... I've been here 12 years and while I've never ruled out the prospect of moving again - if there was only one place to choose... this would be it....

But if I had my choice?? I'd love to give Melbourne a go... and France... anywhere in France... that would be v cool

1. I think it would be along the Mediterranean Sea - particularly Italy and Greece.
2. (I lingered on this answer for awhile - couldn't come up with a place) Umm seriously - I can't come up with a single place I've been where I just wouldn't want to return. I thought maybe a place where the people were terrible as opposed to the place - and yeah - can't come up with that either. And I've been lots of places... and still not one makes this list. When you see me next you can say, "Dude - what about X?" and I'll say, oh yeah - X. Until then however...
3. Ireland - by a wide margin
4. (I lingered on this answer for awhile - couldn't come up with a place - does that sound familiar?) I'd want to live someplace where English was spoken but that had access to lots of places. How about in a little farmhouse with decent Internet just outside Edinburgh, Scotland. I have a mental love affair with Scotland and Ireland - but I could board a train in Edinburgh and be anywhere in Europe before long. And I could then explore all of Scotland in time - and take the ferry over to Ireland... and Wales... it would be awesome.
